I made this list to serve as a starting point in your search for the perfect colorful WordPress theme for your next project. The goal? Save you some time in the process.
This list involves the work of multiple authors, some of whom are not so popular on the web but with amazing portfolios. There are many authors on the Internet waiting to be discovered, it’s worth taking a look at their proposals.
It is important to say that this list is not a ranking, these themes are shown randomly, so choose your favorite and check it out for more details.
So, let’s go!
1.- Ekata. Multipurpose WordPress theme.
The authors of this colorful WordPress theme are unique, in fact, I can complete this list with only their WordPress themes, but that would not be fair to all the other authors. Ekata breaks all the rules. Broken grid, overlapping elements, huge fonts, micro-animations, brutalism. Ekata has all the ingredients for a transgressive design.
What I love.
I love the offbeat design. I think the authors of this colorful WordPress theme cover all the bases. This WordPress theme looks unique. The rule-breaking trend has been around for a few years now and this colorful WordPress theme uses it perfectly. If your project is aimed at a young audience, this is your WordPress theme.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme relies too much on Elementor, I know, it’s a great tool, but at this time of evolution in WordPress, maybe it’s a good idea to take a closer look at Gutenberg. That’s a “but” for me, but not for everyone.
2.- Qusq Pro. Unique colorful portfolio WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme is perfect for the portfolio of a designer, photographer, or artist who wants to present a friendly and close image to their audience. The typography, the white space, and the light tones make it very comfortable to navigate through its pages without feeling “overwhelmed”.
What I love.
The header animation is unique; I think details like this make it easier for our audience to remember our website. It also includes a transition animation between pages and the detail of the 45-degree tilt of several of its elements. There are not many websites on the Internet with these features.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme was created in 2017. The updates seem few but they remain stable, in any case, you have a free version to be able to test its functionality in your projects.
3.- Vasco. Travel blog WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme is stylish and colorful. I love how the elements are displayed, neatly and with enough white space between them. It is worth mentioning that this WordPress theme can not only be used to create a blog, it can also be used to create an online store.
What I love.
The fact that you can do so many things with this colorful WordPress theme, from connecting your Instagram account for sharing your photos to selling products in an online store and all harmonized under one design. I love it.
The red flag.
Some clients complain about containing some bugs, however, they are the minority. The vast majority applaud the theme for its design and independence from any builder.
4.- Leedo. Colorful and creative portfolio WordPress theme.
Impressive and colorful WordPress theme with which you can build practically any type of website. Something that I like is that it is fully compatible with Gutenberg. It is one of the WordPress themes that you should check out.
What I love.
Its compatibility with Gutenberg and its constant updates, even though this WordPress theme has been on the market for several years.
The red flag.
The main problem with resolve-everything themes is that they often clutter your project with features you’ll never use. Although this colorful WordPress theme has very good loading times, according to its creators.
5.- Techmark. Startup WordPress theme.
Create a website in no time with this colorful WordPress theme that shows all its details at a glance, with nothing to hide. The colors and illustrations provoke a feeling of sympathy and transparency. Recommended for projects related to technology.
What I love.
The use of colors and white spaces. The elements are correctly distributed throughout the design and together they make the site navigation friendly.
The red flag.
This is a niche WordPress theme. That is, if your project matches this design and theme proposal, you should use it. Otherwise, it will be a bit difficult for you to adapt its characteristics.
6.- Billie. Creative portfolio WordPress theme.
I love WordPress themes that make our lives easier, with virtually no customization and no learning curve. Billie is one of those colorful WordPress themes, if you are looking to create a portfolio that works right out of the box, this theme is for you.
What I love.
Simplicity, this WordPress theme manages to keep lines profoundly simple while being colorful at the same time. The author got to the point with the concept of this design and it is appreciated.
The red flag.
The simplicity of this colorful WordPress theme can work against you if what it offers is not exactly what you are looking for. Sometimes adapting our projects to ready-made proposals can save us a lot of headaches. The choice is yours.
7.- Lalita. Multipurpose WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme inspires me, the design is so daring that it certainly makes your project stand out. Being a transgressor has its consequences and maybe your audience does not understand the concept of this design. It is up to you to investigate if your audience is the right one.
What I love.
With its transgressive design, browsing its pages is a delight for the senses, there is not a part of the screen that you do not want to investigate to see what else you can find.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme is not for any project. You need to have a well-defined audience to know that they are going to like this colorful WordPress theme and thus be able to make it a differentiator for your brand.
8.- WS Cake. Bakery WordPress theme.
A beautiful and colorful WordPress theme. This bakery WordPress theme plays with soft color tones, micro-animations, and hand-drawn typography to give the design a fun, handcrafted look. It is compatible with WooCommerce according to its authors.
What I love.
Niche themes are perfect because they meet all the specific details of an industry. This colorful WordPress theme has everything you need to make your bakery project a success.
The red flag.
The design of this WordPress theme is very specific, if your project is not related to a bakery, it will be difficult to adjust the visual details. Perhaps you could also use it for a project related to children’s parties by replacing the images related to the bakery. It depends on you.
9.- ChicBloom. Elementor WordPress theme.
A feminine and colorful WordPress theme. The authors of this theme have been on the market since 2012 and the elegance of their designs is proof of that. All elements of this WordPress theme are well presented. Simple, pretty, and colorful.
What I love.
The design is so clean, with enough white space, and WooCommerce compatible so you can do a lot with this colorful WordPress theme. It is also worth mentioning that the documentation provided by the authors is detailed. Awesome WordPress theme to play around with.
The red flag.
This is a WordPress theme that depends on Elementor but if you are a recurring user of this tool, you will have no problem using it.
10.- Koral. Multiconcept WordPress theme.
Incredible colorful WordPress theme that allows you to create the site you need in the easiest way possible since the options it offers you are many. From the start, it already comes with 11 predesigned demos that you can install with a single click, but it also offers you more than 150 blocks that you can combine in different ways to create your designs.
What I love.
I love the many possibilities it offers and how easy it is to use, this theme is compatible with WPBakery, a visual website builder that allows you to adjust all the details without writing a single line of code.
The red flag.
This colorful WordPress theme is huge and while there is not a constant report of complaints about the loading speed of pages built with it, it is important not to overload our pages by adding all the blocks at once. Let’s keep things light.
11.- Ivery. Creative portfolio and CV WordPress theme.
Ivery focuses on creating colorful portfolios using WordPress, the options it offers allow you to create anything from a single-page website to an online store as it is also compatible with WooCommerce.
What I love.
The colors of its design and the good distribution of all its elements make this WordPress theme very pleasing to the eye.
The red flag.
The theme was created in 2017 but its author maintains its validity with new updates. I think you’ll be fine if your project doesn’t require support for recently released plugins.
12.- Breek. Minimal and masonry WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme is adorable. The colors, the round lines, the white spaces, the colorful backgrounds. It conveys a fun and relaxed feeling, perfect for projects that seek to maintain a warm relationship with their audience.
What I love.
What I liked the most about this colorful WordPress theme is its loading speed. The theme was designed with SEO in mind, we must remember that if Google likes our projects, visits are practically guaranteed. These are the types of WordPress themes that I love. Simple and efficient.
The red flag.
Unlike other alternatives on this list, this theme does not offer as many options, we will not have access to hundreds of blocks or page builders. This WordPress theme only focuses on content distribution. Which is great depending on your goals.
13.- Sounder. Online internet radio station WordPress theme.
This is one of those WordPress themes so well done that they can be used even outside of their original niche. This theme was designed to create your online radio station and it does it perfectly, but if all you need is just a colorful blog, you can use it too.
What I love.
I like the fact that it is a theme that has been on the market for several years since it was created in 2018 but its authors are pending its development by releasing annual updates, which speaks highly of the team behind this colorful WordPress theme.
The red flag.
My recommendation would be that you use this colorful WordPress theme for its original purpose, as you would lose many of its features if you used it with another goal in mind. Unless you fall in love with the blog design, which is awesome.
14.- Abletone. Versatile music WordPress theme.
A colorful niche WordPress theme created by the developers behind the catalog of themes available on the official WordPress website. This detail alone tells us that the best programming practices were used to create it. If your project is related to music, you should check it out.
What I love.
The fact that it includes WooCommerce support adds a lot of value to this colorful WordPress theme and allows your project to not only display music and text but also sell merchandise or collectibles. Perfect business.
The red flag.
This colorful WordPress theme is very specific to its niche, customizing it for other purposes may not be easy.
15.- Blomma. Creative agency portfolio WordPress theme.
Blomma is one of those WordPress themes that offers everything you need in one nice package. This colorful theme complies with all required design standards and also includes documentation, making it easy to install and configure.
What I love.
The fact that it includes detailed documentation. Not many WordPress themes include documentation and although the use of WordPress is very intuitive, it never hurts to have a user guide that we can consult immediately.
The red flag.
The theme was not built with Gutenberg in mind, so it uses third-party website builders to do all its magic. In this case, WPBakery Page Builder.
16.- Suitic. CCTV and security WordPress theme.
A colorful WordPress theme focused on the video surveillance niche. It allows you to create a very complete website in this niche, as it includes all the necessary tools, from FAQs and Google Maps to contact forms and action buttons, as well as nice design details like micro animations.
What I love.
Micro animations make this colorful WordPress theme stand out. They are small details that are found all over the design and give it that aspect of detailed professionalism that we look for so much when hiring a service.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme is based on the Elementor page builder, which gives us a lot of control over the design but also responsibility since we can end up overloading our designs with countless elements that can make load times long.
17.- Tediss. Child care center WordPress theme.
Tediss is a colorful WordPress theme focused on children, its unique and fun details remove all formality from its pages and make them a space closer to the user. A space where the user can feel confident, something that is essential for businesses related to education or childcare.
What I love.
This WordPress theme offers everything to make it super easy to use, from one-click installation to compatibility with website builders like Elementor. Other plugins supported by this theme are Revolution Slider, Essential Gridm, Contact Form 7, MailChimp for WP, Booked Appointments, and Events Calendar.
The red flag.
The fun details of this WordPress theme make it niche specific. I couldn’t imagine a law firm represented online by the typography and animations in this theme, but it’s perfect for a pediatric clinic. Use it appropriately.
18.- AT Tracker. App WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme is designed, according to its author, to specifically promote a single product, but in reality, it can be used in many other ways since its design does not limit its scope. Also, being based on Elementor, you can create your combinations and styles with the tools offered by this WordPress Theme.
What I love.
The fact that it is compatible with WooCommerce opens up a lot of possibilities on what can be built with this WordPress theme, as well as offering more tools such as its compatibility with WPForms or its wide availability of icons.
The red flag.
Being based on Elementor it is very easy to create different combinations for our pages, which can make us end up creating super complex pages that take longer to load. Elementor is very easy to use but you have to use it responsibly.
19.- Wavee. Creative portfolio WordPress theme.
This colorful WordPress theme has unique features, starting with the option to navigate the website horizontally instead of vertically. This theme is perfect for projects that seek to express modernity and creativity. It includes micro animations, multilanguage support, and is compatible with WooCommerce.
What I love.
The original purpose of this colorful WordPress theme is to use it as a portfolio, but its original and clean design, as well as its compatibility with WooCommerce, makes me want to use it to create an online store and surprise all my clients.
The red flag.
Use the horizontal navigation feature with caution, not all Internet users are used to browsing this way and it can be a confusing experience. You know the audience of your project, so you can anticipate their response, it is only important to take it into account.
20.- Asura. Multipurpose WordPress theme.
A colorful WordPress theme that breaks all stereotypes. There are no lines or spaces that do not overlap, many colors that attract attention, and micro animations that surprise you without warning. This theme is perfectly designed madness.
What I love.
I love this WordPress theme because the design is completely crazy but purposeful, each area of the site has different calls to action that are essential for any website to achieve its goals.
The red flag.
The design of this colorful WordPress theme is so bold that it is not for any project. Although it does not have a specific niche, what really defines if this theme is perfect for your project is your audience. Do not use it for a law firm or similar business.
21.- ET Yacht. Sailing and boating WordPress theme.
A colorful WordPress theme that conveys peace. The use of color in designs does not always have to be disruptive and extravagant. Color can also convey harmony and confidence, depending on the color tones used, this theme does that perfectly.
What I love.
The fact that this colorful WordPress theme is compatible with WooCommerce and WPForms already opens up endless possibilities of what we can do with it. The scope of this WordPress theme is vast.
The red flag.
It depends a lot on Elementor, so we have to think carefully about the number of elements that we assign to each of our pages, so as not to clutter our projects with unnecessary code and slow down loading times.
22.- Niro. Creative agency and portfolio WordPress theme.
The Niro WordPress theme is a great option for those looking for a multi-niche theme. The visual design is clean, modern, and well organized. The powerful admin panel offers many customization options. This colorful WordPress theme is based on the Twitter Bootstrap 4.x grid system.
What I love.
Niro WordPress theme is responsive and looks great on all devices. Contact Form 7 is built in to make contact forms easy. Custom fonts and Google Fonts are supported. Various types of font icons are also included. Overall, the Niro theme is a great option for those looking for a feature-rich and customizable WordPress theme.
The red flag.
Elementor’s drag-and-drop page builder makes page creation a breeze but the number of elements on each page should be limited to avoid slowing down loading times.
23.- Explo. Travel Blog Theme.
Explo is a colorful WordPress theme created for adventurers looking to build a community based on their discoveries around the world. It can also be used as the theme of a travel agency by showing beautiful destinations to their clients or a photographer showing the beautiful places he witnesses. The possibilities are many.
What I love.
The very original way in which it displays its content, the idea of having fixed content when scrolling and at the same time displaying the content horizontally, makes your attention spread throughout the screen. These little details increase user engagement.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme requires no third-party plugins to work, which is perfect if you’re just looking for a blog to post content to. However, major changes to the theme will be required to make it compatible with WooCommerce or other plugins.
24.- Salient. Multipurpose and WooCommerce WordPress theme.
Salient is a beautiful multipurpose WordPress theme that offers a wide variety of section layouts. Their approach doesn’t just give you full demo web pages that you can install with a single click. Salient offers you each of the sections individually so you can mix them up as needed and create your pages.
What I love.
The concept of designing sections instead of web pages is a trend that is here to stay. All modern WordPress theme design revolves around this idea. This expands your options as a user, since the web pages you create are unlike any other, even if they use the same WordPress theme.
The red flag.
It’s easier to create a fully pre-designed page and install it with a single click; this colorful WordPress theme also gives you this option and you might be tempted to use it. My recommendation is that you better use their premade page sections to create your own unique individual pages.
25.- Ganga. Colorful and multipurpose WordPress theme.
A versatile colorful WordPress theme that makes use of color and two-dimensional textures that give a dynamic look to the websites that use it. The design isn’t as bold as others by the same authors, but it maintains that colorful vibe.
What I love.
WooCommerce compatibility yields endless creative possibilities. An online store with such an attractive design will surely remain in the minds of our users.
The red flag.
Third-party plugins are needed to take advantage of the full potential offered by this colorful WordPress theme, in this case, it is necessary to use the free version of Elementor to be able to build our websites.
26.- Tripster. Travel and lifestyle WordPress theme.
I love this colorful WordPress theme, its design is so clean that it invites you to browse it. It makes good use of element positioning, color palette, and white space. One of those lost gems on the Internet.
What I love.
The detail of offering a popup fully integrated into the WordPress theme’s design is something that is certainly appreciated since doing it on our own involves downloading an additional plugin or writing our code.
The red flag.
This WordPress theme can be very specific to a particular niche and it will take you some time to edit some of the parts you don’t like. But if your project is related to travel, this theme is a perfect option.
27.- Ohio. Creative portfolio and agency WordPress theme.
Ohio is a perfect WordPress theme to create all kinds of websites, although its authors mainly highlight its usefulness for creating portfolios and they are right because the use of animated elements will make your projects look great.
What I love.
The use of blank spaces, the correct distribution of the elements, and the use of micro-animations. It’s the little details that make a professional website stand out from an average website.
The red flag.
It is practically impossible that a WordPress theme with as many features as this does not need to use third-party plugins and in this case, it offers two alternatives such as Elementor or WPBakery. That produces a slight learning curve if you haven’t used them before.
28.- Josephine. Feminine WordPress theme.
I like these colorful WordPress themes that are very stylish and not too feature-rich. Just the features you’ll use to write a blog and set up an online store, all packed into one beautiful design.
What I love.
The layout does everything right, has the correct arrangement of elements, and makes good use of white space as well as small graphic details. This colorful WordPress theme has that handmade vibe, which conveys affinity with our users.
The red flag.
Some of the elements cannot be changed directly from the WordPress customizer. The use of professional design tools is necessary.
29.- Brünn. Creative agency WordPress theme.
A colorful WordPress theme to create any type of website. It is compatible with Elementor and WPBakery, so you can make changes to your layout without having to write a single line of code.
What I love.
A large number of demos with which it is included demonstrates the great versatility that this WordPress theme has. Any type of website can be created, from a portfolio to an online store.
The red flag.
These themes are a bit more complex to understand if you are new to WordPress, as they include advanced elements that can overwhelm you at first glance. But nothing a couple of tutorials can fix. WordPress is very intuitive at any level.
30.- Tove. Colorful and multipurpose WordPress theme.
Simple, colorful, fun. It was a surprise to come across this WordPress theme and the author’s proposal since all of his work is distributed free of charge, depending entirely on donations. An excellent theme for any project that requires a simple and attractive informative site.
What I love.
The author’s business model, each of his WordPress themes has unique details that make them special and the fact that they are distributed for free is surprising. Especially for me, knowing all the hard work that goes into each of these WordPress themes.
The red flag.
The WordPress theme is very good but limited if you are looking for wide compatibility with third-party plugins, like WooCommerce or others.
Bonus: Houdini. Colorful blog WordPress theme.
I couldn’t finish this list without mentioning one of our themes. Houdini is a simple yet fun colorful WordPress theme and with the use of the parallax effect, some elements remain fixed while others move when scrolling, cool!
What I love.
I liked the idea that the title of each of the posts covered the entire page. Very few WordPress themes make use of this idea because they want to display as much information as possible from the first load of content, but we wanted to break the rules a bit.
The red flag.
The theme works perfectly for creating a blog. Since just by installing it, and adjusting the colors and the logo, you can already have your website working and ready to start receiving content. The problem is that you won’t be able to do much more, at least not yet. We always have new updates.
That’s all folks. What will be your choice? 😋
